Aston Villa’s Ayew sorry for West Ham red card

Aston Villa’s Ghanaian international striker Jordan Ayew apologised on Wednesday after being sent off in his side’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham United in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Bottom-of-the-table Villa had made a promising start to the game when Ayew, 24, was shown a straight red card in the 17th minute for swinging his left elbow into the face of West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell.
Subsequent goals from Michail Antonio and Cheikhou Kouyate condemned Villa to a defeat that left them 10 points from safety.
“Looking back at my impulsive actions last night I sincerely apologise to the supporters of Aston Villa, my teammates, AVFC staff and my coach,” Ayew wrote on Instagram.
“I take full responsibility for my actions and I don’t wish to dwell on my mistake, but rather look forward to playing again to prove myself to be true to claret and blue as I have done from the moment I joined AVFC and I do not intend to slow down now.
“To my fans and everyone I offended, I ask that you join me in moving on from this unfortunate situation as I continue to focus on my career and the success of the team. We fight till the end. Up The Villa!”
Ayew will now be suspended for three matches, beginning with Saturday’s visit of fourth-bottom Norwich City.

Lukaku, others to compound Newcastle’s woes

Newcastle United could hand debuts to Andros Townsend and Seydou Doumbia as they aim to end a dismal run against Everton.
Steve McClaren has been one of the Barclays Premier League’s most active head coaches during the transfer window, with Henri Saivet and Jonjo Shelvey making promising debuts in January.
Townsend sealed a move from Tottenham Hotspur last week and Doumbia arrived on loan from Roma on deadline day.
With his side having won just one of their last eight league meetings with Everton, McClaren will be desperate to see the new signings hit the ground running on Wednesday, although he will need Doumbia’s international clearance in time for the match.
“I’m very happy; the acquisitions have been very good,” was McClaren’s assessment after Townsend’s arrival. “We have got very good players to add to our already-good squad.”
Everton were busy themselves on transfer deadline day, completing the signing of Locomotiv Moscow forward Oumar Niasse following January swoops for Matty Foulds of Bury and Shani Tarashaj from Grasshoppers Club Zurich. The £13.5m striker will not, however, be eligible in time for tonight’s match, as he is awaiting visa clearance.
Roberto Martinez’s side are without a win in their last five top-flight matches but dispatched Carlisle United 3-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday to give themselves a much-needed lift after their League Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Manchester City.
Ross Barkley followed a fine finish against City with a thumping strike to round off that Carlisle victory and, as the England international prepares to make his 100th BPL appearance, Martinez believes he is beginning to be appreciated fully for his talent.
“It was good to see the Carlisle fans recognise Ross,” Martinez said after the 22-year-old, who has scored three times in five league games against Newcastle, was applauded from the pitch at Brunton Park. “I think people are starting to appreciate what an incredible English talent we are developing.
“Ross is a stylish footballer. Any football fan would love to watch his skill and pay the price of their ticket to watch a footballer like him.”
Everton hope to have Muhamed Besic fully fit after he missed the matches with City and Carlisle with a hamstring issue, while Kevin Mirallas could also make a return from a knee problem.

She’s so religious, she denies me sex

Dear Bunmi,

My girlfriend is an official member of a leading pentecostal church and she takes her religion seriously – so much so that she always recoils at the idea of having sex. She says it’s against the teachings of the Bible. This makes me sad.
I am a Christian myself and I go to a reputable orthodox church from time to time.
My girlfriend’s attitude is really upsetting me. I know a lot of our religious friends who are happy in fulfilling sexual relationships, why should our situation be different?

At times I even wonder if she’s not hiding something more sinister from me. I’ve asked her to reach some sort of compromise by giving me oral sex but she says nothing can be done sexually until we are married.
It seems as if she is using her religion as a bait for us to get married.
What can I do? If she turns out to be a pig-in-a poke after we get married, what could I do? Do you think there’s anything I can say to change her views? I want her so much.
by e-mail.
Dear Funsho,
As you must have realised by now when people have deep religious beliefs, it is impossible to change their views and unwise and unfair to try. It doesn’t matter that some religious people do have sex before marriage, what matters is that your girlfriend doesn’t believe in it. You want to know what you can do? Why not marry her if you want her so desperately? If you really love each other and believe you could have a good life together, marriage should be the next step. That way, you could have all the sex you want without messing up her life. But, if marriage is not in your agenda, then call the relationship off and move on. That should also free her to find someone who believes what she believes. Then both of you will be happy.

Video: Nigerian army cadet torture a man for complimenting a female officer

The person who should be ashamed of herself the most is the female officer in this video. She started and ended the beating, supposedly because the young man said she was beautiful. How is that something to brutalize someone for? What a disgrace to womanhood! See her hitting the man like he was a piece of wood. Dear Nigerian army, please this woman in the video and others must be brought to book. This is injustice. Watch the video as shared by Sahara Reporters after the cut...

Picking a name for your child is an extremely important responsibility. It’s what they’ll be called for the rest of their lives, so no pressure or anything.
Many families chose a symbolic name or one that has a personal meaning to them. Children are often named after family members, historical icons, or celebrities.
But one father had something else in mind for his daughter.

Baby Lanesra has a pretty unique name.

Clare Smith and her husband decided on the name together. The couple from Blacktown, Australia felt that the name was "unique and romantic." It wasn't until two years later that Lanesra's father revealed that the name carried a special meaning, one that Clare did not know about.

The NNPC also declared that a total of 254 billion cubic feet of gas was sent to power stations across the country in 2015, with an average power generating capacity of 2,957 megawatts of electricity from gas-fired power plants.
In addition, it noted that a total of 7.5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol was supplied to the country by the NNPC and the PPMC in 2015.
The NNPC disclosed that it is driving a fundamental change in its performance to reduce cost and increase revenue in its operations, thereby, achieving profitability.

10 Years Later, He Wakes Up From A Coma...Then The Doctor Shocks Him When He Says THIS!

Drinking and driving is a very serious thing and isn't dealt with lightly. Many people have lost loved ones due to it, and those same people can attest to the fact that the pain will forever linger. The hardest part about this is most definitely the fact that something so tragic could have been prevented. This video, showing a man awaking from a "coma," is extremely powerful and is done by YouTube prankster Tom Mabe. Tom's friend Ray had a serious problem with drinking and driving and had been charged with five DUIs. That's when Tom said enough is enough and decided to slap some sense into him by teaching him what could become a fearful reality.
Ray's friends waited until he became so drunk that he blacked out, then they moved him to an area that resembled a hospital room. When he woke up, all of the actors were disguised as medical staff and told Ray that he had been in a coma for 10 years. They even went as far as creating a fake news report that played on the TV in his room. Ray's first question was, "Where's my daughter at?" This shows that family is extremely important to him, which is one reason his friends were trying to stop his carelessness. Watch the video below to see the prank and Ray's reaction.

Perjury: Court orders police to arrest ex-Ekiti PDP Secretary, Tope Aluko

This is the official press statement...
A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital has ordered the State Commissioner of Police to arrest of former State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Temitope Aluko over alleged perjury. Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye gave this order today, upon a Motion Ex-parte number MAD/10cm/2016, filed by the Ekiti State Government against Mr Aluko and the State Commissioner of Police,

pursuant to Section 117 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C16, law of Ekiti State 2012, Section 79 of the Ekiti State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2014 and Section 23 (D) of the Magistrates’ Courts Law 2014.
In the Motion, which was filed and moved by the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mr Gbemiga Adaramola, an order of the court was sought to issue warrant of arrest against Mr Aluko to be executed by the State Commissioner of Police for the purpose of committing him (Aluko) for trial for the offence of perjury. Chief Magistrate Adegboye said the order was granted as a means for the first defendant (Aluko) to attend the court for defence.

The matter was premised upon an application to the State Attorney General by a lawyer, Mr Sunday Olowolafe, calling for the prosecution of Mr Aluko for alleged perjury. The legal practitioner said; “I hereby apply to your office that Dr Temitope Kolawole Aluko be arrested and sued for perjury in view of the interview recently granted on Channels Television by 8:00pm on Sunday 31 January, 2016.

“The said Dr Temitope Kolawole Aluko now recanted the evidence he gave in the cause of the hearing of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition as a star witness even up to the Supreme Court. The Certified True Copy of the State on Oath, evidence of Dr Temitope Kolawole Aluko in Court on the 12/11/14 and Nigerian Tribune and The Punch newspapers of Monday, 01/02/2016 that reported the interview granted are hereto attached. “It is to be noted that this if this act (Perjury) is not looked into, it will definitely defile the cause of justice and consequently rubbished the judicial proceedings.”

In the affidavit filed in support of the motion ex-parte by Special Assistant to the State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, he said Mr Aluko, who was a witness before the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sworn to a Statement on Oath on August 4, 2014 wherein he stated that the Election was not only free and fair, but devoid of violence, thuggery, hooliganism, snatching of ballot boxes, and related forms of electoral disorderliness.

Olayinka further averred that Mr Aluko tendered and adopted his Statement on Oath on November 12, 2014 and further gave evidence under cross examination.

He stated that all what Aluko said on Channels Television on Sunday, January 31, 2016 were contrary to and opposite in direction to his evidence before the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. Issuing the warrant of arrest against Mr Aluko, Chief Magistrate Adegboye said since the court had the power to grant the order and it will serve the interest of justice, the State Commissioner of Police should arrest Aluko for the purpose of investigating and prosecuting him.

Kerosene may hit all-time high of N200/L

There are concerns that Kerosene, a petroleum product mostly used by the poor may climb to an all-time high of N200 per litre, following government’s total removal of subsidy from fuel products.
This is even as Dr. Ibe. Kachikwu, the Minister of State for Petroleum/Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said on Tuesday that the Federal Government did not pay any subsidy on petroleum products in January 2016.
Kachikwu, while addressing the House of Representatives’ Ad-Hoc Committee set up to investigate the NNPC’s offshore processing and crude swap arrangement for the period between 2010 to date, also noted that the country would save $1 billion (N200 billion) from the newly introduced Direct-Sale-Direct-Purchase, DSDP, arrangement in Nigeria’s crude oil for products transaction which is to commence next month.
Though government had fixed the pump price of Kerosene at N83 per litre, there are fears that with the removal of subsidy, coupled with its scarcity, the price of the product could climb to as high as N200 per litre in some parts of the country.
A number of marketers and dealers who spoke on the issue noted that before the new price announced by government, they sold the product between N100 and N150/Litre, but added, that with the new price, they will sell at even higher prices.
Though government had fixed the pump price of Kerosene at N83 per litre, there are fears that with the removal of subsidy, coupled with its scarcity, the price of the product could climb to as high as N200 per litre in some parts of the country.
Some filling stations visited in Abuja, claim they have not yet purchased new stock since the announcement, while those that had the product were selling at N120 per litre.
A number of consumers also lamented, that there is no significant difference between when government was supposedly subsidizing the product and now, as they normally bought it product at N110 per litre before now.
Meanwhile, Kachikwu, told the House Committee that the DSDP was adopted to replace the Crude Oil Swap initiative and the Offshore Processing Arrangement so as to introduce and entrench transparency in the crude oil for product transaction by the corporation in line with global best practices.
According to him, the DSDP option eliminated all the cost elements of middlemen and gave the NNPC the latitude to take control of sale and purchase of crude oil transaction with its partners, adding that the initiative would save one billion dollars for the Federal Government.
The Direct Sale-Direct-Purchase alternative allows for the direct sale of crude oil by NNPC as well as direct purchase of petroleum products from credible international refineries.
Under the old order, crude oil was exchanged for petroleum products through third party traders at a pre-determined yield pattern.
