Photos: Katy Perry is ravishing in red at her shoe launch

The 31-year-old was a picture of sexy confidence as she rocked up to her shoe launch looking like something out of a magazine in a bright red suit.

The singer who recently became the most followed Twitter user in history, reaching 91.9 million followers on the social media website opened up on the pressures of being so popular. She said in an interview:

'I think everyone feels a little on edge saying anything. Sometimes you feel like you have to read all the news before you can say anything. I feel like I have the power with one button to speak with so many people and be connected with people all over the world at the snap of your finger.
It's a powerful tool. But when you have a lot to lose you get a bit careful because the bigger you are the harder you fall. So you just kind of have to learn how to bob and weave. I think the whole world has become a little on edge over what you can and cannot say. And it's not just me, it's anyone.'

Over 4000 PDP members defect to APC in Edo

Over 4000 PDP members have defected to APC in Egor local government area in Edo state. At the defection ceremony which happened yesterday, leader of the defectors, Promise Igbinevbo, said they were tired of PDP's deceptive ways.
“We are here to bury PDP today. We were deceived by some political leaders of the PDP all these years. Today, they call them new PDP but I realized that old PDP remains.
I later realized that they are like the leopard which doesn’t change its skin. PDP leaders are conservatives. PDP leaders cry for their parochial interest alone to the detriment of their followers. I have wiped off my tears because of the belief that I have in democracy. In democracy, it is said that the minority will have their say while the majority will have their way. Today, the majority are having their way from the PDP to APC. I want to let you know that I, my chairmen here, women leaders and all executives are members of PDP across Egor Local Government Area that we are here to team up with the Comrade Governor and his APC candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki. I want to let you know that I don’t bow down for people for nothing. I don’t bow down to people because of money. I want to let you know that I bow down to people with integrity. We bow before Oshiomhole because of his handwork in Edo State”
While receiving the defectors, the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole who is of the APC said
“Today, I have seen people with a difference. When my brother came and said he didn’t want to come with APC members; he wanted to do it in a hall where only PDP decampees will be present, I didn’t quite understand him or believe him. I said he should allow APC members to come, and he said, no, if APC people come, he would not be able to call the number of PDP people that are decamping. So, when I entered this hall and I see this sea of heads, thousands of PDP women and youths, leaving PDP to join APC, I said, and it is stated in the Bible, now for PDP, it is finished. There is nothing left".

'Sometimes I regret things I've said that caused personal pain' - Donald Trump shocks Americans by expressing regret (video)

US Presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday night at a campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday, did something that he has never done during his whole presidential campaign, he expressed regret!

He admitted that he had said things in the past in the heat of the moment which he regrets and that he's sorry, but that he always says the truth.
"Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don't choose the right words or you say the wrong thing. I have done that. And believe it or not, I regret it. And I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues,"
He added: "But one thing I can promise you is this: I will always tell you the truth."

Trump's public expression of regret comes after his decision earlier this week to shake up his campaign leadership, installing a new campaign Ceo and a new campaign manager, so maybe this is the new strategy employed by his campaign team.

Trump's new campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, suggested in her first days on the job that she favored this newstrategy, but that she would also seek to "sharpen" Trump's campaign message with scripted speeches like Trump delivered on Thursday.
"We're going to make sure Donald Trump is comfortable about being in his own skin, that he doesn't lose that authenticity that you simply can't buy and a pollster can't give you. And voters know if you're comfortable in your own skin," she told CNN's Alisyn Camerota on "New Day" Thursday morning.

"And let him be him in this sense: He wants to deliver the speech, if he wants to go to a rally, if he wants to connect with the crowd in a way that's very spontaneous, that's wonderful. And that's how he got here," Conway continued, adding,
"But at the same time, we have some really serious, pressing problems in this country that I'm hoping will start to be addressed more by the media."

As you know I am not a politician,” he added, to initial cheers. “I have never wanted to learn the language of the insiders, and I’ve never been politically correct – it takes far too much time, and can often make it more difficult to achieve total victory.”

Back in May, Trump said he didn't regret things he said or did.

“I like not to regret anything,” Trump told radio host Don Imus in May after controversy over comments that questioned senator John McCain’s war record. “You do things and you say things. And what I said, frankly, is what I said.”

Ryan Lochte 'robbery' case: US Olympic committee apologizes to police for swimmers' lies

The United States Olympic Committee has apologized for what it called the unacceptable behaviour of four US swimmers who falsely said they had been robbed at gunpoint in Rio. Police questioned three of the gold medal winners and say "they were not victims of the crimes they claimed".

Ryan Lochte had initially said he and 3 other US swimmers James Feigen, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger were robbed at gunpoint when they were returning by taxi from a club. But Rio's civil police head Fernando Veloso refuted the claims, saying the 4 Olympic gold medalists had not been robbed.

"No robbery was committed against these athletes. They were not victims of the crimes they claimed,'' he said.

He told reporters that one or more of the athletes had instead vandalized a toilet in a petrol station and then offered to pay for the damage. The Americans paid and left after armed security guards intervened, he said.

According to the police chief, one guard had justifiably drawn his gun out after one of the swimmers began behaving erratically.

The United States Olympic Committee, after agreeing with The Rio Police version of events, rather than Swimmer Ryan Lochte's continual stance that he was robbed, has issued an apology for the incident.
“As we understand it, the four athletes (Bentz, Conger, Feigen and Ryan Lochte) left France House early in the morning of August 14 in a taxi headed to the Olympic Village,” the USOC statement said. “They stopped at a gas station to use the restroom, where one of the athletes committed an act of vandalism. An argument ensued between the athletes and two armed gas station security staff, who displayed their weapons, ordered the athletes from their vehicle and demanded the athletes provide a monetary payment. Once the security officials received money from the athletes, the athletes were allowed to leave.”
"The behavior of these athletes is not acceptable, nor does it represent the values of Team USA or the conduct of the vast majority of its members. We will further review the matter, and any potential consequences for the athletes, when we return to the United States," said USOC CEO Scott Blackmun. On behalf of the United States Olympic Committee, we apologize to our hosts in Rio and the people of Brazil for this distracting ordeal in the midst of what should rightly be a celebration of excellence."

USA Swimming’s executive director Chuck Weigus also released a statement on Thursday, attacking “lapses in judgement” on the part of the swimmers.
“The last five days have been difficult for our USA Swimming and United States Olympic families, While we are thankful our athletes are safe we do not condone the lapses in judgement and conduct that led us to this point,” said Weigus in a statement. It is not representative of what is expected as Olympians, as Americans, as swimmers and as individuals. This drawing attention away from Team USA”s incredible accomplishments in the water and by other athletes across the Olympic Games is upsetting.”
While it is possible that criminal charges might be sought against one or more of the athletes, it is unlikely at this point, Civil Police chief Fernando Veloso said.
