Professor Johnbull airs Tuesday, discusses concept of "beauty"

As the TV drama series, Professor Johnbull, goes on air today, the issue of "beauty" in an age of digital manipulations will come to the fore.

Programme sponsor and grandmasters of data, Globacom, said Episode 10 of the series, named "Beautiful Girls", will draw viewers' attention to the infinite possibilities of using computer applications to enhance one's looks and pass off for what one is not.

The company said the series which goes on air at 8.30 p.m. today on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and on NTA Channel on Startimes will be intriguing and thought-provoking.

It will also feature Glo ambassador and comedian, Bovi Ugboma, who will thrill lovers of the TV drama series as he makes a guest appearance, Globacom said.

The episode will further drive home the point that "all that glitters is not gold" as it exposes the tricks played by tech-savvy ladies who use computer aids to change their looks and enhance their overall appeal.

It will parade the regular stars including the lead character, Kanayo O. Kanayo, as well as Yomi Fash-Lanso, Mercy Johnson Okojie, Queen Nwokoye and Ogus Baba.

A major issue that will be addressed in the episode is the relationship between complexion and beauty and whether "fair" is really "fair".

Globacom urged viewers to keep a date with Professor Johnbull as 'Beautiful Girls" is aired at 8.30.p.m. on NTA  on today with a repeat broadcast on Friday at the same time and on the same mentioned channels.

UN suspends all aid operations in Syria after it's convoy and warehouse is severely attacked (video)

The United Nations has decided to temporarily suspend it's aid operations in Syria after it's aid convoy and warehouse in Aleppo was massively attacked on Monday night, leaving tens of thousands of people unable to get food, water and medical supplies.

According to a UN official, it's unclear if the deadly attack on the convoy and warehouse was caused by ground fire or it was hit by a fighter jet but the U.S say no coalition planes were at the area at the time of attack and that the attack was either from Russia or Syria .

This comes days after the U.S and Russia agreed on a 7 day ceasefire in Syria in order to allow the country recover from the bad situation it's been in over 5 years.
"At the moment [the] aid operation remains suspended while we assess and reevaluate the situation on the ground," the UN spokesperson said, adding aid convoys planned had come to a halt.
The convoy of 31 trucks was carrying life-saving aid to around 78,000 people before it was attacked.
The Syrian Civil Defense,  posted video of the aftermath of the attack on the internet showing a warehouse ablaze and said some helicopters had dropped four barrel bombs on the site of a Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) aid warehouse killing Omar Barakat, the director of the SARC branch.
"Our outrage at this attack is enormous," said Staffan de Mistura, the UN's special representative for Syria. "The convoy was the outcome of long process of permission and preparations to assist isolated civilians."
The US State Department also said it was outraged by the reports:
"The destination of this convoy was known to the Syrian regime and the Russian federation and yet these aid workers were killed in their attempt to provide relief to the Syrian people. For more than a week, we have urged Moscow to fulfill the commitments it made in Geneva to facilitate the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, And for more than a week, the Syrian regime repeatedly denied entry to these UN convoys, preventing them from delivering urgent food, water and medical supplies to desperate Syrian citizens."
The US carried out an airstrike on Syrian forces on Saturday but the Pentagon said it was an accidental airstrike and they expressed regret while Russia said the U.S just wanted to show "an extraordinary display of American heavy-handedness"

Militants responsible for current economic recession- VP Osinbajo says

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has attributed the current economic recession in the country to the activities of various militant groups in the Niger Delta region. Osinbajo said this while speaking at the Presidential Quarterly Business Forum at the State House, Abuja yesterday September 19th.

“It is important for us to understand the nature of this recession in which we have found ourselves. In discussing this issue of recession there is tendency for people to generalize. A lot depends on what sort of recession and how we got here. If we did not have vandalization in the Niger Delta as we are currently suffering, we will not have this recession today. Moreover in looking at the solutions, we should try to focus on the type of problem we have and what instigated it. Then we can begin to come up with better solutions” he said

Okonjo-Iweala needs to have a rethink towards supporting the FG to revive our economy- Doyin Okupe says

In a post titled "National Economic Emergency" which he shared on his Facebook wall yesterday, former media aide to former President Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, prevailed on former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to have a rethink and lend her support to the APC-led government towards reviving the economy which is currently in recession.

According to him, issues concerning Nigeria should not be politicized. He also gave support towards the Economic Emergency power President Buhari is asking the National Assembly to give him so he can move speedily towards reviving the economy. Read his post below...
It is a fact that Nigeria as a country is in dire straits in terms of its economy. It is not too important how we got here or who or what brought us here. We need an exit plan desperately. Sadly, there is too much politicking in Nigeria. Our Partisanship is obscenely unhealthy for our nation. A few of our people are still behaving as if elections are yet to take place. But the truth is elections have come and obviously they have also gone. Unfortunately our economy, has slipped into a recession and that is crippling everybody and everything. No matter what government and those opposed to government are saying, there is no easy way out of a recession. When President Obama came in, in his first term, the US was in recession. He was young, brilliant, and smoking hot, it took nearly 2yrs to see the tips of the mountain, and almost the same length of time before the flood of recession started to recede. At that time the opposition threw diatribes and invectives similar to what is being thrown at President Buhari now, at him. But he remained focussed and steadfast. Eventually he succeeded. ‘While wailing, howling or even cursing from the populace will certainly not help our situation, pretence, conceit or sheer optimism from government quarters also is no panacea for the economic infirmity bedevilling our Nation. ‘This situation calls for an end to extreme partisanship in the face of a major threatening national emergency. ‘We need to, and we must put all hands on deck. May be President Buhari’s famous quote”….We have no other country that we can call our own” is more apt now than “the change begins with me ” mantra, which may not be as bad as it is being presented, except that the cliche was coming almost 18months late. It would have been better received if it was part of the inaugural speech of the president. Dr,mrs, Okonjo Iweala must have a rethink. This is not about Buhari or Apc, it is about the survival of over 20% of black population in the world. It is about the continued existence of the most populous nation in Africa. It is about Nigeria, the only nation where black history and heritage can be redefined. We must bring in all our aces, Kalu Ndika Kalu, Soludo, Rewani, Tunde Lemo, Utomi, shanmsudeen, our revered Emir of Kano and a host of others. Recession is a word, I agree, but a very challenging word describing a critical problem. But it is a challenge. Nations have gone in and out of recessions before now, we can jointly, working together , find answer to this thorny all encompassing national malaise. Does the President need emergency powers to deal with this situation ? I answer YES in the affirmative even though I have reservations . But truth is sacrosanct . Monies must be spent that cannot wait for the normal process of legislative approvals. Actions must be taking by the President and his executives that cannot wait for the usual debates in our hallowed legislative chambers. But alas, there are fears, genuine fears of abuse of such powers, especially against political opponents. Perhaps this is what we need to debate and work on and ensure that all such possibilities are eliminated with legislative craftiness and deftness that cannot be wanting amongst the robust body of our legislators . But if the president must lead this struggle against Recession such legal framework will assist him greatly.’
