Photos: Governor Amosun condemns killing of two persons by Customs officers over possession of bags of rice

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has condemned in strong terms, the killing of two persons by men of the Nigeria Customs Service, on Wednesday, March 8th, at Kobape in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State, along the Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway. A statement signed by Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, Secretary to the State Government, says some officers of the Service, in a hot chase of a vehicle suspected to be carrying bags of rice along the expressway, shot at it, killing the driver and another person instantly.

According to reports, Igwe Henry suffered a stroke and had been in a coma few days before his death in the early hours of Wednesday, March 8th. The businessman and philanthropist hailed from Adazi Ani in Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. He was building a house before he died. According to a Facebook user, the woman pictured died in a fatal accident Tuesday morning, March 7th, at Ugwu Onyeama, Enugu State. Her body has been deposited at ESUT Teaching Hospital mortuary. Two Cambodian strippers accuse Nigerian businessman of sexual assault after he failed to pay them

Two 'bar workers' in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district, Cambodia on Tuesday, March 7th, filed a sexual assault complaint against a Nigerian businessman after he failed to pay them for entertaining him. According to the complaint, the man agreed to give each woman $25 per hour to spend time with him at a French bar on Sunday night.

Confirming the incident, Prum Vibol, a Phsar Deum Thkov commune police officer, said the women accused the businessman of touching them inappropriately.   “The Nigerian man asked the two women to sit with him and serve him while he was drinking. He promised to pay them $25 per hour each,” Mr Vibol told Khmer Times.
"The suspect touched the women’s breasts and genitals as they sat together. But after drinking for two hours, he gave them only $3 and left the bar to go back to his rented accommodation."
The officer said the women followed the man home on motorcycle taxis after he left the bar, but he shut the door on them. Seng Vannak, the chief of Phsar Deum Thkov commune police, and Ouch Sokhon, chief of Chamkarmon district police, refused to comment on the case.

Soon smoke began to creep into the bus forcing the wedding party to evacuate, not long after, one of the tyres exploded engulfing the vehicle in flames.

Kenya bans media houses from transmitting election results

The Communication Authority (CA) in Kenya has declared that no media houses would be involved in the transmission of results in the August 8 general election. Speaking at the launch of Media Council of Kenya's election reporting guidelines today, CA Director General, Francis Wangusi stated that the authority will monitor all television stations in the country to ensure they adhere to the laid down guidelines.

Pregnant ESPN host hits back at Twitter trolls who directed sexist remarks at her

ESPN broadcaster Sam Ponder, 31, who is seven months pregnant with her second child has hit back at Twitter users who insulted her about her appearance and her abilities to perform on her job. The attacks on Sam started when Richard Deitsch from Sports Illustrated reported that Sam was likely to take over from Chris Berman on ESPN's  'Sunday NFL Countdown' show.

Police arrest 43 drug peddlers during massive raid in Ghana

Police at Achimota in Ghana have arrested 43 drug peddlers who are suspected to be perpetrating robbery activities in the area. The suspects, 40 of whom are men and 3 women,  were caught during a raid on Saturday in the ghettos and slums located in the community.
According to Ghana Web report, some of them were caught in the act smoking substances suspected to be marijuana, while others were in possession of the material.

Leicester city reportedly name Craig Shakespeare as head coach till end of season

Leicester City football club of England, the defending champions of England have announced Craig Shakespeare, assistant coach turned caretaker manager, as its new head coach till the season's end.
Following the much criticized sacking of Claudio Ranieri who helped the club to its first premier league title, the club apppointed Shakespeare as its caretaker manager, but following wins over Liverpool and Hull city- he's now been given the permanent role of manager till the season's end.
According to the report by Sun U.K; Owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and son Aiyawatt held talks with the former England coach this week to discuss the plans going forward.

Photos: Construction worker in China survives after being impaled in the head by a 5ft steel rod

In what can be described as nothing less than a lucky escape or a miracle, a 41yr old construction worker in China survived, after a 5ft steel rod got lodged in his head while he was at work. Doctors managed to remove the rod and saved the man known as Wang Long after a four-hour-long surgical operation. The accident occurred in Chongqing on February 27 when the worker tried to loosen up a concrete slab while at work.

Photos/Video:Malaysian ecologist survives after losing an arm and leg to crocodile

Rudy Francis, a 35yr old Malaysian ecologist escaped death by the whiskers after he was attacked by a huge 18ft crocodile during a routine feeding session at a crocodile farm in Sandakan, East Malaysia on February 20. Colleagues had to pull him from the jaws of death during the attack in which he lost his right arm and leg.

He was rushed to the hospital and had a cardiac arrest but survived. He narrates his ordeal in a film, titled, 'I survived a Crocodile Attack,' the clip includes footage from last December which shows Mr Francis hand-feeding a crocodile from a bucket.

Heartwarming! Catholic priest and Islamic cleric share tearful farewell embrace in Minna, Niger State

The love between both men transcends the barriers of colour, racial differences, religion, class and cultural limitations! The Catholic priest, who turned 80 years old last week, and served in a Government Secondary School in Minna, Niger State for 50 years and an Islamic cleric are pictured tearfully embracing each other, as the priest prepares to return to Ireland. Halima Bawa Bwari posted the photos on March 7th and wrote:

Father O'Connell, a Catholic Priest, in a tearful farewell embrace with Shaykh Ahmad Lemu, an Islamic Cleric, in Minna. Father O'Connell has served in a Government Secondary School, Minna as a Principal for 50 years. He turned 80 earlier last week or so. He returns to Ireland on retirement. These 2 men have between themselves, educated, positively influenced and molded many Nigerlites, including my father & mother, among other close family & friends. Man U defender Marcos Rojo in tears after learning that his cousin was shot by ex-policeman in Argentina

Man U and Argentina defender, Marcos Rojo was pictured trying to hold back tears at the Manchester airport after hearing that his cousin was shot dead by an ex-policeman whom he tried to rob. According to reports in Argentina, Geronimo Rojo, 17, died in hospital early Tuesday morning after he was shot by a man, who was later revealed as an ex-policeman - he allegedly tried to rob at gunpoint.

Update: Husband and wife go missing in Abuja

Japheth Kwanduno and his wife Lydia Kwanduno are missing. The couple had gone to church in ECWA, Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja and were seen leaving the church at about 7:30 p.m. yesterday but they did not make it home.
