The woman killed has been identified as Madam Mbanengen Lase, a mother of seven. She was killed on her farm by suspected Fulani militia at Adam settlement of Kendev-ya, Turan, Kwande local government Area of Benue State The body of another unidentified woman who was also killed in the attack has not yet been identified.

Senegal police arrests suspected Nigerian Boko Haram recruiter


Senegalese police Wednesday said authorities have arrested a suspected recruiter for the Nigeria-based Boko Haram Islamic extremist group, AP reports. Police said they arrested the Nigerian on April 1 in a Dakar suburb. Police said the suspect was known to Nigerian intelligence services and had been in Mauritania for some months before coming to Senegal to recruit on behalf of Boko Haram.

Lagos plans to introduce compulsory insurance of all buildings in the state


Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, through the Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Hakeem Dickson has hinted on plans to introduce compulsory insurance scheme for all buildings in the state. Hakeem Dickson gave the hint on Monday at a media briefing on the activities of the commission saying it was part of preparations towards the commencement of the policy implementation, the state government, in synergy with consortium of insurance companies and National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), was already working out ways of enforcing the policy.

Police smash kidnapping gang in Rivers State, rescue victim


The Command’s anti – kidnapping Unit of the Rivers State Police Command led by the Commander SP Edward Shadare early Wednesday, acting on credible intelligence smashed a kidnapping gang, at Rumuoduru, Port Harcourt, where Mrs. Abigail Eseme Oroboh who was kidnapped from her residence on Friday Aprll 6, was rescued unhurt.

The body of the first female Muslim judge in the United States', Shelia Abdus-Salaam, 65, was found dead Wednesday afternoon in the Hudson River near Manhattan, in New York. Abdus-Salaam served as an associate judge of the Court of Appeals and was the first African-American woman to serve on New York's top court.

Police attached to the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Morocco on Sunday night, April 9th, arrested  a Nigerian national for his alleged involvement in cocaine trafficking.

The 32-year-old suspect, who had abandoned a luggage at a reception area of a hotel located in the international transit station of the airport, was arrested at the boarding area, the DGSN pointed out in a statement.

The 8-year-old special needs male student who was killed by his teacher's estranged husband has been pictured for the first time.

Jonathan Martinez was killed on Monday in front of his classmates when Cedric Anderson had come into the class in North Park Elementary School, and opened fire at his estranged wife, Karen Smith.
Karen died on the spot and the two children standing behind her were also shot. Jonathan died later in the hospital while the other student is said to be recovering.

27-year-old Rapper Tyga was on Tuesday detained by LAPD after being pulled over for allegedly driving his custom Mercedes G-Series, which sells for upwards of $112,000, with no license plates.

This was following a night out with a friend. Two police cars blocked the car on a side street after he was pulled over.

The Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday, April 11, arrested four members of a kidnap/robbery gang that abducted one Mr Nsisong Nsikang. While on patrol along waterlines around 1pm, a team of policemen from the Elekahia Division led by the DPO CSP James Ngei Chu chased and intercepted a light blue Nissan Sunny Primera REG NO GU 586 LND with the suspects in it.

Man granted divorce after claiming his wife is possessed by satan


A man has been granted a divorce after claiming in court that his wife was controlled through demonic possession by Satan. The unnamed Italian was granted divorce from his wife after a court in Milan was told of her “inexplicable behavior” – including fits, levitation and superhuman strength.
According to a report on Italian news site, the man claimed his wife had been exhibiting bizarre symptoms for the past 10 years which were inexplicable by medical science.
A priest and a monk who had tried to help his wife in the past were called to testify on the husband's behalf. The court heard that attempts to exorcise the demon from the wife had been unsuccessful each time.
